Experts speak out following exploitation case

Professionals in Warwickshire say anyone with child safety concerns needs to come forward with them.

The county's child safety team has been speaking after police broke up a massive sexual exploitation ring in Newcastle.

John Dixon, Strategic Director at Warwickshire County Council said:

“These cases never cease to shock and upset and our thoughts go out to the young people and their families who have suffered. Sadly no place is immune to this and all need to remain vigilant and continue to do all we can to tackle the issue.

In Warwickshire, the county council and its partners all work together. We have established the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) to coordinate organisations such as Warwickshire County Council, the police, NHS, as well as others, to investigate safeguarding issues and share information. Keeping children and young people safe is everyone’s responsibility and our 'Something's not right' (warwickshirecse.co.uk) campaign exists to raise awareness of signs of child sexual exploitation and help people seek help and advice.

Anyone with concerns about the safety and well-being of Warwickshire youngsters can call the police on 101 and report any suspected issues.”
