An attack in Rugby has left one man in hospital.
He'd intervened in a fight involving around 20 men outside McDonalds in Market Place in the early hours of Sunday.
He was then punched to the head from behind and kicked in the face whilst on the floor - a woman who tried to stop the attacker was also hit but wasn't hurt.

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault that occurred outside McDonalds in Market Place, Rugby at 0450hrs on Sunday 7 July 2019.
The assault is believed to have occurred when a group of approximately 20 males were causing a disturbance at the location.
An unknown male was assaulted by one of the group and a witness intervened to prevent further injury. The witness, a male in his 30's, was then punched to the head from behind which knocked him to the floor. He was then subsequently kicked to the facial area approximately four times. As a result he has received a 25mm cut under his right eye, which had to be glued after attending St Cross Hospital in Rugby to seek medical assistance.
During the incident a female pushed the offender off the victim. She was also assaulted as the offender punched her but she received no injuries.
Officers investigating the incident are checking CCTV and appealing for witnesses to contact them with any information that could assist their investigation.
