Rugby man charged with knifepoint robberies

A man has been charged with six robberies at shops in Rugby.

The robberies happened between 24 September and 3 October.

Paul Ashford, 31, of Wentworth Road, Rugby, has been remanded in custody to appear at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Tuesday 8 October).

Ashford was arrested following a police appeal.

Arresting officer, Detective Constable Gary Hammond from the Rugby Offender Management Unit said: “I’d like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and provided us with information.”
