A teenage boy from Rugby has been charged with terrorism offences.
The 16-year-old, who we cannot name due to legal reasons because of his age, was detained last Tuesday (3 September) at his home address during a pre-planned operation carried out by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit.
He has been charged with the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act, and is also charged with six counts of collecting terrorism information under section 58 of the Terrorism Act.
He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court today (Tuesday 10 September).
Meanwhile, a 62-year-old man who was arrested on the same day at a separate address in the town remains on bail with enquiries ongoing.
