SUMMER WHAT'S ON GUIDE... Got an event? Get in touch!

Ever wanted to drum? There's a drumming circle on Wed August 20th, at the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum. The free event runs from 2-4pm, a chance to learn native drumming, songs and dance.

Ceramics classes on August 14th – August 15th, at the Rugby Arts Gallery & Museum. The event is from 10:15-3:00pm. The class will cost £35 for the two days and will is for the ages of 8-11 years old and will give the children the opportunity to experiment with clay creating decorative bowls, plates and sculptures.

Bat Walks summer taster sessions at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre on Thursday 14th August. From 8-10pm, costing £5 for the ages 16+.

The Toddlers Trundle is still an ongoing event every Wednesday at Rytons Pools Country Park costing £3 per toddler. The event will start at 10am and will finish at 11:30 am. Everyone knows toddlers have bundles of energy just waiting to be burned off so what better way than the Toddlers Trundle?

The Expendables will be released in cinemas on Friday, 15th August. The film will include various great actors such as Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Jackie Chan and many more! The film will be action packed and looks to be a brilliant movie.

Archery Lessons at the Lawrence Sheriff School today (25th July) £6, beginners, experts welcome, with qualified coaching.

Join A Ranger in the Woods on August 1st to hunt for some silly faces hiding within the trees, you can make your own silly faces and hide them within the trees! £3 per child, makes a great day out!

Queens Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre is running a summer camp until August 29th, offering activities such as Basketball, Athletics, kayaking. www.better.org.uk

Rugby Art Gallery and Museum are hosting a performing arts workshop between July 22-25th You are invited to showcase your performance skills by creating a piece based on there current exhibition.

Horrible Histories has returned to Warwick Castle this year, with all the more gore, invading the castle up until the end of August.

Are you ready for change? Ladbrokes were offering odds of 8/1 on May becoming the hottest on record but it's the end of the glorious weather! Over in Brighton almost all of the town’s 3,000 deckchairs were checked out and 200 hotels reached capacity at the weekend but it's all change this week. Thunder and lightning are forecast to end Britain’s mini heatwave towards the end of this week with temperatures dropping to 16C by Wednesday.

Do you have a "thing?" I think I've discovered a new "thing." I've become obsessed with grooming. My girlfriend doesn’t own a brush, so I bought her one and every time I see her I start combing her hair, she likes it, and yesterday I spent almost an hour on my cat Thomas! I was covered in ginger fluff by the end of it, the grass in the back garden had gone ginger! I really find it therapeutic and calming...

Did you witness three armed men with guns raiding a shop in Park Road, Rugby? Three men wearing dark clothing and gloves restrained the shopkeeper at Premier Stores on Park Road on Sunday evening. He wasn't hurt but the robbers made off with cash and cigarettes.

In speedway, the Bees lost out in a narrow defeat away at Wolverhampton last night.
They lost 47-43, and claim a single Elite League point because of the narrow scoreline. The Brandon based side have a another away trip tomorrow night - this time to Poole.

NEWS IN RUGBY'S...
More roadwork congestion today! As another round of work starts at Toll Bar Island between Rugby and Coventry - the Highways Agency are promising they'll get it done as quickly as they can. A stretch of road near the A46 turn off is closing overnight until Saturday, so drainage work can be finished. It's part of an ongoing scheme to overhaul the roundabout.

Warwickshire Police are warning people to be on their guard after a rise in phone scams. In one case a resident was nearly conned out of 45 thousand pounds by someone claiming to be from the bank. Officers say our bank will never ask for PIN numbers on the phone and we should hang up on anyone who asks us for it. There's more on this story on our app.

A controversial scheme to get gas out of the ground near Ryton could still go ahead. Earlier this week, we told you Cluff Natural Resources had suggested to one of the county's MPs they were having second thoughts about their plans. But the firm say Underground Coal Gasification could still happen - but they'll need permission from the Council first.

When was the last time you updated your anti virus software? Warwickshire Police are warning people to be aware of what they're calling a cyber crime 'onslaught'. A third of us were victims of things like online fraud or hacking last year and officers say it's because many of us don't bother to update anti-virus software.

Have you heard about the Panda Dog craze in China?
They're Chow Dogs from China groomed to look like Pandas. They've become the latest ‘must have’ in China, with pet shops selling out of them. With a bit of careful grooming and colouring it is easy to turn a chow into a panda dog in about two hours. The look will stay with the dog for around six weeks and then the owner brings them back for some touching up. OMG! This will catch on over here!

A major inquiry looking at plans for a new business park near Ryton's expected to come to an end today. It'll be months before a planning inspector delivers his verdict on the scheme known as the Coventry Gateway. Opponents fear it'll cause lorries to clog up local roads and dispute whether the site close to the Airport will deliver the 7 thousand jobs developers say it will.

Rugby's MP says it's taking too long to diagnose a rare medical condition. Breathing can be so difficult for people with Alpha 1 that they struggle to walk. Mark Pawsey - who was first alerted to the illness by a local sufferer - will meet health secretary Jeremy Hunt about it today.

On Saturday I enjoyed my Christmas present from Catia... A Bungee catapult at Tatton Park near Manchester... Oh boy what a ride! I was strapped into the harness, stretched and then released 60 metres into the air... Going up was great, free-falling was a complete new experience! Check out the photos on our Facebook page!

NEWS IN RUGBY'S...
An energy expert's cast big doubts on plans to get gas from underground coal supplies near Rugby. Cluff Natural Resources say the process they want to use - setting fire to coal under land near Ryton is safe. Energy advisor Paul Mobbs says the technique, known as Underground Coal Gasification's been tried before but hasn't worked.

Overnight work starts next week to improve the A423 at Ryton. The slip road coming off the A45 - near the Ryton Industrial Estate - needs resurfacing. It'll be closed to motorists on week nights between 8pm and 6am, beginning next Monday.

BOY IN A DRESS: A church playgroup's sent home a 5 year old Rugby boy who was wearing a dress because he was being picked on. His mum's not happy with the Christian Fellowship who run the group, but they say they were just trying to protect him. Are the playgroup right or is he being punished for what he likes to wear? I fear he will be bullied...

Metallica have been announced as this year's Glastonbury headliner. They'll join Arcade Fire and Kasabian, who top the bill on the festival's Pyramid Stage on other nights in June. Organiser Michael Eavis admits over the years, people have asked him when Metallica were going to play.

Experts have come up with a formula to win Eurovision - and reckon the UK's entry could be a close match. The London College of Music says a track must sound familiar, be three minutes long, and have "cheeky charm". Molly Smitten-Downes's self-written song "Children Of The Universe" is already a bookies' favourite for Saturday night.

A second police force is appealing for help to find a Binley Woods woman who's been missing for two months. Lorette Cooper's still not told Warwickshire officers where she is, despite calling them after they urged her to get in touch this week. West Midlands police also want to speak to the 26 year old about an investigation they're doing.

A Rugby Church playgroup insists a boy they sent home for wearing a dress is welcome to come back. The Buzz Children's Club thought five year-old Romeo Clarke was being picked on by some of the other kids - and they wanted to protect him.

NEWS IN RUGBY'S...
Police are worried about a woman from Binley Woods who's been missing for two months. There's a photo on our app of Lorrette Cooper who's 26. Her Facebook's been shut down, she's left her job and changed her phone.

In football, Rugby Town boss Dave Stringer's agreed a deal to stay with the club. Valley missed out on promotion from Southern Division One Central in the play-offs for the second year in succession this season. Stringer's committed himself to the Butlin Road club, though, and says he's determined to go one better next term.

Warwickshire's fire service says planned changes will mean it's better placed to handle changes to its workload. Proposals expected to come in over the next two years would see crews moved to new bases in Gaydon and Ryton.

I've become a father again! The newly hatched Blackbird - chicks in my loft are chirping for food every ten minutes! I saw the parents outside yesterday morning and they looked exhausted. They are constantly bringing in food for their little ones... And boy do they make a lot of noise when they're feeding! I do feel rather proud today.

Any good at cooking? What's your favourite dish you do?
I made the perfect cherry pie at the weekend... Catia didn't believe I could make one as good as her mum... So I baked and she ate all the pie on the plate and then I had the ultimate compliment, when she got to the end of the pie she shouted... More rubbish pie please!

A 12 year old Rugby lad's travelled to America for pioneering cancer treatment. Adrian Secareanu (SECK-AH-REE-AH-NOO) from Overslade left for Florida on Friday, to get proton laser therapy for rare tumours in his neck and jaw.

The treatments last for 3 months and'll cost 10 thousand pounds - a link to his justgiving page's on our Facebook.

Warwickshire's Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Ball says a paedophile catcher's yet to fulfil his promise to sue the force. Stinson Hunter went on YouTube saying they'd tried to link him to a Northamptonshire man's suicide - something police deny.

Progress is being made in the fight against hospital infections in Rugby. Some wards at St Cross have been free of C-Diff for more than 600 days now. It's easily spread and can make you really sick if you're already unwell.

How was your Bank Holiday weekend?
I look all bronzed today after a whole day in the sun at the Spring Fair yesterday. A great day at the Whitehall Rec, although I feel like an old man today. We spent the whole day sitting in a fold out deck chairs... I'm sure this is the reason why our grandparents make such a lot of noise when they get out of their seats... Deck chairs should carry a health warning on them!

We were on Lobster Watch yesterday at the Spring Fair... We spent the afternoon looking for the pinkest Brit in the sunshine... The award went to the man wearing the hanky walking in socks and sandals. He glowed a fluorescent Lobster pink...

The winner of the Smell & Bogey jar of sweets was announced on the show this morning.... Well done to Elder Myrtaj from the Christian Centre, Rugby. He guessed there were 270 sweets in the jar. There were actually 278!

NEWS IN RUGBY'S...
A woman and a teenage girl have been seriously injured following a crash in Rugby. A van and a car collided in Collingham Lane in Broadwell yesterday lunchtime. The woman - aged 58 - had suffered pelvic injuries and had to be cut from the car by fire fighters. A 17 year suffered facial injuries.

The head of a Rugby school says their nomination in our Pride of Rugby awards is down to the great team work staff there do. Brooke School is up for Educator of the Year when Rugby FM hosts its glittering annual celebration of the area's best and brightest on Friday. Head teacher Chris Pollitt says the fact they're included in the event at the Dunchurch Park Hotel still hasn't sunk in.

It's all over for the Rugby Lions, they lost 23-12 at Twickenham against Longlevens in the RFU Junior Vase final on Sunday. Lions try scorer Chris Easton: "Today's been the best day of my life. To score a try at Twickenham was incredible."

The first single from Michael Jackson's new album has had it's premiere. Usher danced to the track "Love Never Felt This Good." It was originally written and recorded back in 1983. Pupils at Brownsover Community School could be world record breakers...with a little help from Jamie Oliver. The celebrity chef's hosting an online cooking session on 16th May. They're attempting to break the record for the most number of kids cooking at the same time.

Network Rail says it's doing all it can to minimise disruption when it closes part of the line linking Rugby with London this weekend. It's put information on its website to help travellers get to the capital while part of the West Coast Mainline's shut for upgrades to the track.

Rugby Lions will take at least five coach loads of fans with them to Twickenham this weekend. Rob Walton's side take on Longlevens in the RFU Junior Vase final on Sunday. Goodluck to the Lions! Kick off to early for me, 11:30am on Sunday morning! No No No!

NEWS IN RUGBY'S...
The Principal of Warwickshire College's spoken out against schools putting-in metal detectors to catch anyone carrying a knife. Her comments follow the death of a teacher stabbed to death at a school in Leeds earlier this week - allegedly by a pupil. Marianne Cavalli says introducing the machines wouldn't be the right response.

We could find out in the next two months whether a company will be allowed to drill for gas near Ryton and Princethorpe. Campaigners fighting the plans expect a ruling by then, and say they'll decide their next move once it's made. They claim extracting gas by setting fire to coal underground will cause polution - but the company behind the idea insists it's safe.

NEWS IN RUGBY'S...
People from Rugby who died in the First World War will be remembered this weekend. Final preparations are being made for a trip to Ypres (eep) in Belgium where many local soldiers fought in battles. It'll be led by Rugby's mayor Tony Gillias who'll take part in a parade and lay a wreath commemorating those who lost their lives.

It looks like Rugby Town will still be playing in the Southern Division One Central next season. They lost their play-off semi-final to Slough Town 3-0 last night. Slough go on to play Kettering in Monday's final.

Part of the West Coast Mainline's being closed at Watford because of work to upgrade the track. A boy from Bilton says he can't wait to trek across the Sahara for charity. We told you last week about Freddie Cannell's 4 day challenge in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind. His Mum and Dad are going with him and they'll battle temperatures in the mid 30s or above. Freddie wants to raise as much money as possible...

NEWS IN RUGBY'S...
DIRFT workers think there could be a nasty accident down Crick Road if the County Council doesn't put in a proper footpath. At the moment those who walk to work from Hillmorton have to use a muddy track or risk using the road. Town MP Mark Pawsey says he's been contacted by people concerned about it - and wants action taken.

Rugby's Ashlawn School wants to build 10 new classrooms. They say it would help them cope with increasing demand for places there. They've put in an application to the Borough Council and hope to have them built by the start of the new school year in September.
