Five arrests after dawn raids in Rugby

Five people have been arrested following a series of dawn raids in Rugby.

Officers from Rugby’s Proactive CID, Safer Neighbourhood Team, the Tactical Support team, and the Met carried out four drugs warrants simultaneously this morning (Tuesday).

They raided properties in Trussell Way, Graham Road and Grosvenor Road.

A quantity of mobile phones, drugs, drugs paraphernalia, cash, and a firearm were seized by the team. Two dogs were also seized during the raids.

A 20-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, and an 18-year-old woman – all from Rugby – were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in supplying a controlled drug.

A 30-year-old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug.

All five individuals remain in police custody at this time.

Detective Sergeant Alan Gardner from Rugby Proactive CID team discusses the raids carried out in the town this morning.

The raids were carried out following concerns about drug dealing in Millennium Park and subsequent investigation led officers to believe drugs were being transported from London to Rugby.

Three further raids were carried out by the Met at properties in London.

Detective Sergeant Alan Gardner said: “This morning we carried out a number of co-ordinated warrants in the area and I’m really pleased we’ve been able to take action, which will have a positive impact.

“We are committed to protecting our communities from the harm that drug use can cause and we strive to do all we can to stop drug dealers who are attempting to set up in the county.

"Drugs use is an issue we do not take lightly and we will continue to tackle reports of drug use through robust enforcement that targets drug supply, drug-related crime and any associated anti-social behaviour.
